Karl Burkhardt was enrolled at the Technical University of Munich for an engineering degree from the winter semester of 1881/82 to the summer semester of 1883. The privately held student estate includes notes from the years 1882-1883 on lectures by Prof. Karl Max von Bauernfeind on practical geometry and hydrometry, as well as on lectures by Privatdozent Ernst Voit on the theory of optical instruments.
